Module 1: Server Identity & Player Limits

Every successful Emergency Response: Liberty County server begins with a strong foundation. This starts in your primary Server Settings menu. First, consider your Server Name and Description. These should clearly reflect the type of roleplay you offer (e.g., Strict RP, Florida based, Economy focused).

Next is configuring the Player Limit. While having 40+ players sounds great, large servers require significant moderation power. If you are just starting out with only 1 or 2 moderators, it is highly recommended to cap your server at 20-25 players. This prevents the server from spiraling out of control with RDM and allows you to establish a core group of serious roleplayers. As your staff team grows, you can incrementally raise this limit.

Module 2: Tuning Fire Size & Spawns

The Fire Department is a core mechanic of ERLC, but fires can cause major performance issues for players on lower-end devices. Within the server settings, you have the ability to toggle and adjust fire mechanics.

• Max Fire Size: Set this to a medium or small size if you notice players complaining about lag during major FD calls. This keeps the roleplay active without crashing clients.
• Fire Frequency: Adjusting how often fires spawn is crucial for pacing. If fires spawn too rapidly, your FD will be overwhelmed and unable to participate in casual roleplay. A balanced frequency keeps them busy but not stressed.

Module 3: Department of Transportation (DOT) Permissions

The DOT plays a vital role in keeping roads clear of abandoned vehicles, but without the right permissions, their job can be frustrating or abusive.

In the server settings, ensure that DOT Tow Permissions are configured so that DOT workers can effectively tow civilian vehicles that are illegally parked or abandoned. However, you should strictly enforce rules against DOT towing active police or fire vehicles. Balancing these permissions allows DOT to feel impactful without disrupting active law enforcement scenes.

Module 4: Environmental Controls

Setting the right mood is essential for roleplay. As a server owner, you can lock the time of day and weather.

For standard roleplay, leaving the cycle on default is best. However, for specialized events (e.g., a server-wide "Purge" event or a "Storm/Flood" roleplay scenario), locking the time to night or the weather to rain/thunderstorms can drastically increase immersion. Remember to reset these settings after the event concludes so regular gameplay isn't permanently dark or rainy.
