Custom Emergency Lighting (ELS)

Module 1: Understanding the Custom ELS Pack

The Custom ELS (Emergency Lighting System) pack is one of the most popular additions for ERLC private servers. It allows you to break away from the default red and blue flashing lights and tailor the lightbars to match specific real-world departments or unique server lore. To begin, you must own the appropriate server pack, which unlocks the ELS menu in your server settings.

Module 2: Navigating the ELS Interface

Once you open the Custom ELS menu, you will be presented with a list of all emergency vehicles available in the game. From here, you can select specific vehicles (e.g., the Falcon Advance or the Bullhorn Prancer) and adjust their lighting profiles.

Module 3: Per-Livery Configuration

One of the most powerful features of Custom ELS is the ability to tie lighting setups to specific liveries. This means a single vehicle model can have different lights depending on its paint job.

For example, if you have a Ford Explorer (Falcon Advance) used by both the Police and the Department of Transportation (DOT):

  1. Select the Police Livery and assign a Blue/Blue lighting profile with a fast flash pattern.
  2. Select the DOT Livery on the exact same vehicle and assign an All-Amber lighting profile with a slow, directional traffic-advising pattern.

This level of detail dramatically increases immersion and helps players immediately identify what kind of unit is responding to a scene.

Module 4: Matching Real-World Counterparts

If your server is based on a real location, research their lighting setups. For instance, many European servers utilize all-blue lighting, while some US states strictly use red on the driver's side and blue on the passenger side. Fire departments heavily rely on red and white. Adhering to these real-world standards makes your server highly attractive to hardcore roleplayers.

Conclusion

Custom ELS is more than just flashing colors; it's a tool for communication on the road. Take the time to meticulously configure your ELS profiles for every livery, and your server will immediately feel more premium and professional.
